"I was diagnosed
with Alzheimer's disease in 2004, and since that time have experienced
firsthand the support given by Alzheimer's of Glynn/Brunswick to those
afflicted with the disease, and to the caregiver as well. I also see the need
for more education about this disease. In the past, the trend was to isolate
the patient. Now we know that with appropriate attention, communication and
activities, individuals with Alzheimer's may function better and remain active
and socially involved for a longer period. With your support, more programs can
be offered, and more can be accomplished to serve our community.
"Your contribution will make it possible to carry out the organization's mission to educate the
public and build community support systems to assist those facing the
challenges of this devastating terminal disease. Please keep the mission and
good work of AGB at heart. We need your support."
-Lamar Floyd, Board of Directors, Fundraising Chairman, 2008
Our dear friend,
advocate, volunteer and past Board president, Lamar Floyd, passed away in
December 2014, just shy of his 90th birthday. In November 2014, AGB
honored Lamar's service to the organization with Lamar Floyd Appreciation Day,
adding his name to our Volunteer Wall of Fame as Star Volunteer. Up until
his death, unrelated to Alzheimer's, Lamar was actively involved in
advocating for AGB, attending every event at AGB House, adding his
energy, enthusiasm and warmth, always the life of the party. Lamar's
contribution to AGB is immeasurable. We loved him, and we miss him.

"Alive Inside" has set forth to create a film showing music's ability to touch our
souls. Their cameras reveal there is a healing power in music that can
help combat memory loss and bring a sense of relief to those suffering
